Sergeant Andre Paulus Rabie, a founding member of the Rhodesian Selous Scouts special forces unit, was killed in a friendly fire incident on September 16, 1973. He was a highly skilled soldier with C Squadron SAS who, along with Sergeant Alan “Stretch” Franklin, was instrumental in forming the Army-backed pseudo-operations teams that were the precursor to the official Selous Scouts Regiment.
