Angolan served in the South African Special Forces

neves was a prominent operator in 5 Recce, the unit primarily focused on long-range reconnaissance and special operations, often deep behind enemy lines in Angola and other Southern African countries. He frequently operated in small teams with other notable Recce members, such as Colonel André Diedericks and Koos Stadler. He participated in numerous operations, including “Operation Barrage” in 1983. He was known for carrying exceptionally heavy loads during missions (sometimes over 80kg). He was awarded the Honoris Crux, one of South Africa’s highest military decorations for bravery in the face of the enemy.
