32Bn Bravo Company’s second platoon made contact with 30 SWAPO at a waterhole two kilometres east of Omupande, a known FAPLA stronghold. Later that day, a five-minute mortar bombardment was launched against the same platoon from the direction of Omupande, followed an hour later by a second, and another hour afterwards by a third attack, despite the fact that the platoon had moved position. On 19 June, 32Bn Bravo Company’s first platoon made contact with a group of SWAPO guarding an ammunition cache 20 km east of Mupa. When the enemy fled, the patrol destroyed 120 82-mm mortar bombs, 40 anti-personnel rifle grenades and 25 anti-aircraft magazines containing 23-mm shells. - Operation Dolfyn

Charlie Company 32 Battalion is sent to confirm the presence of SWAPO at Mupa. A fierce fire fight ensues but contact is broken because of SWATF orders not to engage FAPLA

Charlie Company 32 Battalion is given instructions to move into Mupa, by which time SWAPO has abandoned their base there. Mupa is held for 2 days and then handed over to UNITA

The SWAPO force at Evale is attacked by 32 Battalion and the town is cleared, opening the logistics line between Mupa and Evale, denying the enemy logistics movements from Cuvelai to Ongiva

At 17:30 on 27 October, 4 x SAAF Impala strike aircraft departed from their airbase at Ondangwa and launched air-to-ground attacks on various targets to the east of the position which the Task Force Daffodil held, in the Mupa region of the central part of southern Angola

At 07:05 on 28 October, 4 x SAAF Impalas launched another air-to-ground attack upon Mupa

At 18:00 on 2 November, two days after the carrying out of Operation Firewood, 2 x enemy MiG fighters approached the Mupa area from a northwesterly direction, flying at very low altitudes, and launched an air-to-ground missile attack on the positions of SADF soldiers. Five members of the SADF were injured during the air strike
