Killed in action during the Rhodesian Bush War (Operation Nickel) on August 22, 1967. He was the deputy to Lieutenant Nick Smith, and both were killed in a contact with the ANC’s (African National Congress) and ZIPRA’s (Zimbabwe African People’s Revolutionary Army) Luthuli Detachment in the Tjolotjo Tribal Trust Land, North Matabeleland.
